Ah, the relatives!

“Third cousin of my Aunt Maudene, twice removed”. Isn’t it eye opening to see just how many relatives you can get to show up at a family reunion, that you don’t know! I have a good friend who’s family gets together every other year and from what I hear, there is a huge turn out, 100 plus at times. People meet for the first time, and yet they are family. They are received, and made a part. To be family you don’t have to have anything but love and acceptance. Who you are is accepted; Who’s you are is what really matters. It’s funny how you discover that the family tree has “Branches” those that most see as being the strength of the group, “Forks” where there may be a little division and separation; and we can all be traced back to the “Roots,” those folks from whom we all come, and all owe a deep debt of gratitude for their hard work, commitment, and sacrifices made for the family good. There is a time set for the “Reunion” to beat all reunions. When the Father who started it all because of love, calls us into His House, to His Table, to meet Our Family. We Are Children Of The King, and He is looking forward to seeing us; Every One! Oh, bye the way, we have no cousins in the family, only Brothers and Sisters!

So Very Thankful!

I often think of the Poem that starts “How do I love Thee, let me count the ways. That is a solid way for people to remind themselves of someone else’s value and significance in one’s life. This Thanksgiving is a very special one for me. There has been so much happen in my families life; after all that is what Thanksgiving’s about right, family life? Tomorrow I will sit at a table prepared with more than anyone could ever deserve. I will sit next to my wife of 34 years; the most wonderful lady I have ever known, who I love more then life. Somewhere very close bye will be my amazing daughter Heather, No words are adequate. Next to her will be the only person alive who loves her more then I do, My Son, Mark. What an amazingly beautiful thing to see how much they love each other, and how they love and raise their kids. Then there’s “The Kids”, Easton, Elijah, and Miss Emma. How can I begin to tell someone how much I love these three, My Three Einsteins (really My Three Stooges). And then there’s my friends who we will be celebrating with. We are going to Truman and Beverly’s home. The best friends anyone could ever ask for. We will sing the blessing for the food, and then proceed to eat ourselves into a good nap. All the while I’ll be looking into the faces of my richest blessings this side of Heaven. I Am A Blessed Man! My God and Father loves me!

This Thanksgiving, before you bow your head, take time to look around and see all the gifts from God, and hug yours as tight and as often, as possible.

Thank you Lord, for loving me so much!

Its not always as it seems…

I’m coming to the place in my life where I have to accept reality. I know that may sound kind of dramatic, especially for a pastor. Most people if asked, would tell you that they desire the perfect life. You know, a spouse, two and a half children, nice home, good job, secure future, enough money to be comfortable, the expected speech. But usually in spite of what they may already have, many still feel the need for more.
Recently I have been reminded by many different confirming witnesses in my life to be thankful. To guard my heart and filter my sight according to “Reality and Truth”. I am aware that every individual’s life is just that, individual. We may share in the same type of life experiences, but they are all personally unique. I think it’s called perspective. A person needs to make a wise choice in this matter of perspective. Half empty or half full. Totally dark, or almost dawn. Blessed, or forsaken?
How do we approach our circumstances and life situations? It makes all the difference.
OR, should I say confidence and trust in God makes all the difference in the world.

I am often asked by people “How are You Doing?” My response usually catches people off guard; “Better Then I deserve!

Begin to practice the art of humble thanksgiving, to an amazingly loving Heavenly Father,
It will change your reality!

Because of Grace
