I Couldn’t Do It

The more I think about the Lord, the more helpless I realize I really am. This past week I gave much thought to the life our Lord Jesus lived. I  confess that no one really knows all that the Lord Jesus was as a man, or all that He faced as He fulfilled the Will of His Father. What a friend we have in Jesus.What an amazing devoted friend, who loved us so much, and did the unimaginable for you and me. We are told that the greatest love anyone can give is to lay down their life for someone else. To give all for another. This is exactly what Jesus did for not only you and me, but for the entire human race. He lived the perfect life, to be able to be the perfect sacrifice.

As a Christian husband, father, grandfather, friend, pastor, and citizen I find myself facing things that are very difficult to do the right way, at the the right time, for the right reason, but for  Jesus not so much. In the Gospels we see how the Lord walked among the lost and always kept His focus on the “Prime Objective” the Will of His Father. Jesus came to reveal His Father to the world, and to redeem the world to His Father. Simple Huh?

Every moment of every day there was no conflict or second guessing about what He was to do; the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. You might have a point of discussion about that night in the garden. but in consideration of that incident I believe that Jesus did not deviate from the Prime objective, He was just overcome by His love for His Father. I truly wish that I could experience that more often in my life, don’t you?

After I had been thoroughly convicted, shamed, and silenced, by the reality of my humanity, I let my mind wander just a little more and began to ponder the gravity of the will of our Heavenly Father.

Think With Me For A Moment.

Consider how it pleased God, for His Son, His loving, obedient, only, Son, to be the acceptable sacrifice for a world of lost sinners, who did not care to know Him, or acknowledge His Sovereignty,  much less deserve His forgiveness by the death of His beloved Son. And consider Jesus, knowing full well of the gravity of the plan of God, and how He not only fit into it, but how it all hinged upon Him doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason, that being us.

All that is rests in the reality of John 3:16-17.

Jn 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

I try hard, most of the time, to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason, but I fail.

I try hard, most of the time, to stay focused on the will of my heavenly father, but I fail.

For it is by the amazing grace of God that I have been saved, and it is solely through the faith given to me as a gift from God; and I am humbly grateful.


Redeemed By The Blood of God’s Lamb


I’m thankful, very thankful, that God had a plan that was not contingent on me, because I couldn’t do it.

I bow amazed at the presence!

Over the past several weeks I have been teaching on the “Simple Things” of Christianity; things like Hope, Unity, what it means to be “In Christ”; and this Sunday I am preparing to tackle the easily defined topic of Faith. I use the term “Simple” with a wink and a nod. Hope, Unity, Identity and Faith are the pillars that hold up the house. These are also the very areas of greatest need “in my sometimes humble opinion” for Christian’s to shore up in their Biblical knowledge and life application. I Love To Preach and Teach God’s Word. One of the greatest blessings of preparing a sermon or Bible study is the blessing of studying the Lord’s Word. It is refreshing, challenging, convicting, and cleansing, all at the same time. I am often taken to worship in my spirit and find myself singing or humming hymns that I grew up with as a young believer. Songs of our faith with words like:

“My hope is based on nothing less, then Jesus Blood and Righteousness!”

“Bind us together Lord, bind us together, with cords that cannot be broken.”

“We are the people of God, called by His Name, called from the darkness, delivered from shame, one holy race, saints everyone, because of the Blood of Christ Jesus, The Son.”

“When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul!”

Bible Study, what a great privilege that is often overlooked or seen as unnecessary. Too many people have the foolish attitude of shallow ground faith. “I’ll let the preacher tell me what I need to know and what I say I believe.” Unfortunately when the first significantly hard storm comes they are washed away by the deluge of the enemy, or the hot searing heat of trials causes them to whither and fade away.

Our Heavenly Father knows we need to be in His presence. He knows we need the fellowship of His Spirit. He knows we need to worship, that we need to know our weakness. He knows we need Him more then life.

I love you Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship you, oh my soul rejoice!

Guard Your Heart!

Finding Purpose For Life…

Imagine for a moment that you’re building a house. You hire a building contractor, but he never consults the blueprints drawn up by your architect, your designer. He works without a plan. An unwise move–because the contractor needs to know where to lay the foundation, erect the walls and place the windows. Only then will the home look the way it was intended.

The same can be said of life. How can we try to build our life without first consulting the great architect of life, the one who created us for a wonderful purpose? The Bible says, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Romans 8:28).

Furthermore, there is more to be gained by living according to God’s plan. True fulfillment and meaning in life is found in God. That’s why the philosopher St. Augustine said centuries ago, “You have made us for yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.”

By asking Jesus, God’s Son, to be the center of your life, you will discover the very purpose for which God created you. There is no thing or no one else who can do this–no religion, no philosophy, no person. Just Jesus. He said of himself, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

We live at a time in history where there is every distraction imaginable from the message of God and Christ. Also we have more false prophets today then at any other time known to man, and they are accepted and defended fiercely by those who have drank the Kool-aid of their deception and lies. From the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Seventh Day Adventists, The Mormons, The Nation of Islam, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Bahia’s, Krishna’s, New Agers’, Unitarians, Ping Pong’s, Ding Dongs, Ding-a-lings, and on and on and on.
Most people will just shrug their shoulders and say “Kay-sara-sara”; God’s Word says in John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Jesus made this claim John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.

His Word also says in Jeremiah 29:11 “I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.”

So, if your looking for the answer, trying to find your place in this world; start by asking Jesus, the one who created you for His good pleasure, what it is you’re supposed to be doing in this thing called life.
I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
